During two field-work days students were required to analyse construction of existing heritage historic structures: steel constuction of theatre and shell and skeletal concrete structures. They performed it by documenting their current state using traditional drawing techniques as well as a variety of instruments. They also used modern NDT equipment to determine material properties. The information collected was afterwards used to analyse possible defects and suitable remedial repairs. That work was supplemented by documentary sources to underpin the students understanding of the historic steel and concrete structures.
